About
The Vision for OCC
A note from Franklin about the event: I’ve always wanted more time to just hang out with my fellow choir nerds. But whenever we cross paths, it feels rushed, we’re often working on a project, teaching a class, or squeezing in a conversation during the ten minutes after a concert.
Over the past twenty years, Anabaptist choral music has grown in incredible ways. Since Music Camp (SCMC) began in 2006, skilled musicians have gone on to sing in and start choirs, teach in schools and universities, and create truly phenomenal music.
And yet, most of our choirs still function independently, with very little opportunity to really connect.
Sometimes we’re even competing, inviting the same musicians to sing with us, while still not really knowing what the other group is about. Often, all we know of another choir is a YouTube video… or worse… a livestream! Sidenote, this event is in-person only. No livestream!

The Support Team
That’s why I’m excited to partner with Zollikon Institute and the formidable Katrina Weaver to host the very first Ohio Choral Connections.
This two-day event brings choirs together from all over the United States to sing, collaborate, and worship—featuring ensembles like Canticle, Cantate Domino, The Master's Ensemble, Tehila Ensemble, Laudate Mennonite Ensemble, and Oasis Chorale, who will headline our Friday night concert.
Alongside the concerts, we’re offering workshops led by Seth Bergey and Rosemary Lebold, as well as a conducting master class. These address the real need for professional development focused on practical skills and leading worship, for everyday teachers, conductors, and singers.
Due to the live acoustics of the auditorium and the nature of this extended Choral festival, this event is not suitable for young children. We appreciate your understanding as we seek to provide the best listening experience for all. Children may come, but a ticket is required.
